An Overview Of Water Purification Systems
World water day has just gone by, a reminder for the
importance of water for ecological system. As body consists of mostly water and for every
living organism to sustain themselves , there has to be enough water to quench thirst.
But there is a scarcity of potable water for many. If water is available then
it has to be processed in order to use
for domestic purpose. Although there are ways
to get water- by cooling air, rain water harvesting, desalination of ocean
water, and other systems, water has to be treated to remove dissolved,
suspended or other impurities to make it usable for drinking, industrial, pond
or even fish tank.
In this overview, the different water purification systems
are looked at for their “claimed” purification performances in a way to reach
some conclusion for best purification system.

Water treatment consists of purification and disinfection which not
only removes impurities in water
including microbes but also makes it drinkable(addition of taste, removal of odor and color if
any). Municipal water(first there that the water is “purified”) or tap water
has to be checked up before getting water purification system especially for
your home. There are various filtration systems and models available that not
each one can be described here, so some basic that are used widely are
mentioned here with their functionalities. Sediment filters or carbon filters
(or membranes) have some pros and cons as well and so do RO(reverse osmosis
filters- uses water pressure to purify) in conjunction
with UV(ultra violet rays for removing
microbes only). Ozonization and distillation are other method of purification.
However, RO with UV systems are better
treatments and used widely. One of the commercially available model contains 7
purification stages, mainly of :
pre-filter purification,
silver-impregnated activated carbon and RO purification. Bottled or mineral
water also employ above mentioned systems
mainly for treatments.
www.rei.com/learn/expert-advice/water-treatment-backcountry.html has some of the filters compared with one another and various options
available.

2 Ways Of Reducing Carbon Emissions
The summer is not
far from here in India and you may go for switching on your
air-conditioning system sooner or later. It came to the notice that if the
air-conditioning system is not geared up for environmental friendliness, it can
not be energy efficient .

The tool developed by FilmTak, a software, called as window
films Carbon Emission Reduction Calculator (CERC) measures energy efficiency of air-conditioner by
obtaining carbon emission reduction for the system. This is after tinting of
windows. Nothing more can be said about the tool as this is a preliminary test
measurements, according to news. But for split ACs used in India, this might not work.
There are tools for
measuring carbon emissions, as discussed in earlier articles.
Lots of wheels are
discarded which adds to carbon emissions. But by Wheel recycling and
repairing this can be altered to environmental wellness, according to news. Metals
in wheels can be reused and refined into another pure product.
These are just ways of reducing carbon emissions, however,
the variables are too much far off to be tempered with for environmental
wellness.
